What's the Story Morning Glory?

What's in a morning? It's a fresh start. A new chance to make yesterday a minor mistake and today an adventure. Or it's a respite from the crazy, a brief interlude before the chaos takes over. Every Mom has a different morning.

So far, the notecard system has worked very well for me. I feel very on top of my game when I have a cheat sheet for the day's goals and needs. No more forgetting what I was going to make for dinner and starting the process late. No more feeling like the housework is just TOO much to do, so better that I just not bother.

Ten minutes makes a HUGE dent in how my household feels, for me, my husband, and my children. Since going on this little "I'm going to keep my household efficient and prospering..." my husband's general attitude towards me has changed, in a good way. He's more flirtatious. He's subtle, and it's probably just more subconscious reaction, but it's still nice.

Confidence I Can Right the Ship

We did have a difficult week where I started getting back into my old habits. I wasn't making an effort to clean a little bit in a little time. I was loafing. And when there was 5 loads of laundry piled up, and a messy kitchen, and messy living room, and unclean bathrooms, I panicked a little that everything was lost. Instead, I tackled a little bit of it, asked for some help from my family, and we're A-OK.

Are You A Morning Person?

I never used to be. But I'm finding that my natural biorhythms are changing as I'm aging. I can still stay up, but I'm much more alert and productive in the early morning hours. Where 9 PM was energized time to get papers done in college and my early twenties, my early thirties body is thinking 9 PM is a GREAT time to go to bed! And sleeping in? I have to try.

On mornings where I start doing nothing, that carries through to the entire day. This Cre8tive Mom is realizing I can win the battle with myself in the first 30 minutes after I wake up rather than feel guilty all day for being unproductive.

What about you? When is YOUR make it or break it time of the day? Do you have one that you've noticed?
