Follow a stay-at-home wife, mother, and writer unafraid of owning her identity and working to bring cubicle world's efficiency to household running. She is a creative, conquering spirit with her family's happiness and well-being first and foremost on her mind. Frumpy is a state of mind, not the clothes on your back.
About Me
This is my family and my job. :) From the left is me, my daughter Catelynn (33 mo), my husband, and my super step-son Vincent (nearly 12).
I do not do my job as a housewife because I'm a slave or can't do anything else. I do it out of love for my family. And yes, I do have to remind myself of that very often.
I use spreadsheets to control our food budget, and we use budgeting software (mint.com) to keep our family finances under control. I listen to hard rock music when I fold laundry so I can imagine myself anywhere but there. I'm working on overcoming my upbringing in a constantly messy house (just cluttered) to mesh with my husband's upbringing in a house run by a clean freak who bleaches everything. Everything? Yes, everything. My mother-in-law should own stock in Clorox.
Aside from cooking, cleaning, and child-rearing, I also write. First I wrote non-fiction articles and now I write books. My debut novel is Cancelled, a contemporary romance/chicklit from a male POV. It's available as ebook and paperback on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. I also play video games on the computer and every system under the sun with my kids, especially Japanese styled RPGs (great tool for getting a reluctant young man to read more). Our family also supports open source software, sails, plays Scrabble, and rock our faces off to Muse and Skrillex.
